Jazz Intensive Training Center NOT Coming Soon!
Jazz musician and instructor James Wrubel from HearandPlay Music is set to open a brand new Jazz Intensive Training Center that is sure to be an instant hit. There are only a handful of jazz instructional video sites on the web of which a couple I have already tried, but the Jazz Intensive Training Center looks like to be a real winner. Now, I’m not an affiliate of HearandPlay but I am an avid enthusiast of their products and an annual member of their Gospel Music Training center. I believe in their concept of teaching music because it works very well for me and I know it will work for others. You can search and checkout articles about my experiences with HearandPlay on this blog.
The new Jazz Intensive Training Center looks to be similarly based on the successful Gospel Music Training Center Program. I’ve been a member of that for over a year now and will definitely be continuing. Likely if given the opportunity I will also be joining the Jazz Intensive Training Center because the Jazz Concepts that James Wrubel teaches are very well thought out and extremely useful for today’s playing. You can checkout a few videos he has online that gives you a glimpse into what is in store with the Jazz Intensive Training Center. I also have James Wrubel’s first two Jazz instructional videos Jazz 101 and Jazz 201 which were pretty good. I think his teaching style has changed considerably since the development of the first two videos for the better so I’m excited about his fresh new content. I particularly like how he’ll be teaching Jazz concepts which I rather enjoy because I can then apply them to my own style of playing easily. Although I am not a pure jazz musician, I do wish to include jazz concepts and movements into my playing.
I can definitely say about the HearandPlay Training centers is that they are very well thought out with talented and accomplished musicians teaching you relevant and applicable concepts. The training centers are always very inspirational and the community of musicians they attract are fantastic. You also have opportunities to chat and participate in live audio broadcasts with instructors talking about current events and ideas in the training centers. the Jazz Intensive Training Center is sure to be a success and from what I hear it will only be opened for a limited number of people initially. It’s no guarantee I’ll get in but I sure hope to have the opportunity to check it out. The information and inspiration I’ve acquired from the Gospel Music Program has been more than rewarding and I am greatly looking forward to expanding my horizons with motivational new concepts in Jazz.

UDPATE: I’m not sure HearandPlay’s Jazz Training Center will ever materialize. It has been lagging for some time with no updates or word about the progress of such a site or service. At this point I’d recommend another online jazz program rather than Hearandplay. They just can’t seem to get this launched. Perhaps James Wrubel is just too busy which I would better understand given he is studying to become a doctor. How do you make time for a Jazz Training Center? I do hope this materializes sometime soon, but I’m not banking on it. It’s quite ambitious at this point. Overly so? Not sure. We’ll see.

James Wrubel teaches you how to play runs and licks over multiple chords.

James Wrubel shows you how to end a chord progression, song, cadence, or verse with style. Using a 5-1 chord progression, he shows you how to play a number of chords (and inversions) up and down the piano and how to end on the “1″ with poise. This is a must-know for aspiring jazz players.

I am under the impression that Hearandplay’s Jazz Intensive Training Center is nothing but “vaporware”. It has been sitting on deck for some months now with no updates or word about it. This is typical marketing by Hearandplay to get you gunned up at first, but then leads to disappointment. I was looking forward to this but unfortunately It’s just a rumor at this point. Too bad.

Jim,
The JITC is launching this month! We hit some snags, but we’re just about ready to go. As you guessed correctly, I have been very busy (as Jermaine, of course, always is). Keep your eyes out.
Cheers,
James Wrubel
